The Wadden Sea stands at the forefront of climate challenges, where the effects of climate change are starkly evident. To reverse these trends, we must tackle multiple challenges simultaneously. Water as Leverage Wadden Sea is a pre-project approach focused on developing proactive and integrated project proposals. This initiative fosters collaboration among different stakeholders to formulate resilient solutions that prevent crises rather than merely react to them.

In partnership with the Rich Wadden Sea Program, the trilateral Wadden Sea Board, and local partners from the Wadden Islands and coastal cities such as Texel, Terschelling, Harlingen, Emden, Esbjerg, Ribe, and Fanø, we are exploring how this approach can lead to sustainable and implementable climate adaptation projects. By summarizing the Water as Leverage methodology and delving into the shared challenges across the Wadden Sea, this project sets the scene for comprehensive, resilient strategies.
